1. What does it mean?
Korean uses the English initials TMI for extra or unnecessary detail. In fan conversations, asking for today's TMI often invites an ordinary personal tidbit rather than an embarrassing disclosure.
Also written or said as 티엠아이, 티엠아이야, too much information
2. The nuance
The context changes the tone. TMI야 may dismiss an unwanted detail, while TMI 알려 줘 invites one. Do not assume that a fan's request is asking for intimate or private information.
3. Examples
“오늘의 TMI는 새 화분에 이름을 붙였다는 거예요.”
Today's little personal update is that I named my new plant.
“그 조립 과정은 좀 TMI야. 완성 사진만 보여 줘.”
The whole assembly process is a bit too much detail. Just show me the finished photo.
