1. Original explanations
We write definitions and examples in our own words. We do not copy entries or example sentences from other dictionaries or posts.
When a word has several meanings or an uncertain origin, we separate observed usage from claims we cannot verify.
2. Nuance and limits of use
We explain tone, familiarity, and the difference between a joke and an insult when a literal translation would miss them. Usage in one group or generation is not presented as a rule for all Korean speakers.
An offensive expression may need explanation, but we do not publish it in a way that encourages hate or harassment.
3. One English article per expression
NoCapWiki is written for English readers. Each published expression has one English explanation. We keep Korean headwords and Korean example sentences, with English translations where needed.
We do not automatically publish machine translations or a separate Korean article. An expression without a reviewed English explanation stays unpublished.
Romanization is a reading aid, with hyphens to show syllable breaks. It is not a phonetic transcription, and Korean sounds do not always map neatly to English.
4. Suggestions and corrections
A user suggestion does not become a dictionary entry verbatim. We check for duplicates, accuracy, context, rights issues, and harmful content; we may edit or hold it back.
