NoCapWiki editorial explanation
1. What does it mean?
자컨 shortens 자체 콘텐츠. In idol fandom it usually means video content released through an artist's own production or agency channels: a recurring variety series, games, behind-the-scenes episodes or a vlog. 'In-house content' is often clearer than 'self-content,' which is not a natural English expression.
Also written or said as 자체 콘텐츠, 자체 컨텐츠, in-house content, jakeon
2. The nuance
'Self-produced' does not promise that the performer personally wrote, filmed and edited everything. Production staff can still be involved. Fans often contrast 자컨 with appearances on outside television or entertainment programs. Compare 직캠, a camera focused on a performer, and 라방, a live broadcast: those describe filming or delivery, while 자컨 describes who puts the content out. A clip can belong to more than one category, but the words are not synonyms. For a specific episode, look for the official series title.
3. Examples
“오늘 자컨에서는 멤버들이 보드게임을 하더라.”
The members played board games in today's in-house video.
“입덕한 친구한테 자컨 첫 회부터 추천했어.”
I recommended the in-house series from episode one to a friend who had just become a fan.
