NoCapWiki editorial explanation

1. What does it mean?

미공포 shortens 미공개 포토카드, literally a photocard with a previously undisclosed image. Collectors use it for special cards associated with particular offers, shops or events. In an English listing, identify the actual card or benefit rather than translating it as a card that nobody has been allowed to see.

Also written or said as 미공개 포토카드, migongpo, special photocard

2. The nuance

The name can remain attached to a card after its image has circulated publicly. It is a collecting label, not a guarantee that the image is still secret or that the item is extraordinarily rare. Compare 포카, the broad term for photocard, and 비공굿, unofficial goods: 미공개 and 비공식 are different words. A 미공포 is not automatically fan-made. To identify a particular version, ask for the event, shop and round; the shorthand alone does not distinguish every release.

3. Examples

“같은 사진처럼 보여도 미공포 행사명이 서로 달라.”

Even though the pictures look similar, the special photocards are from different events.

“이 미공포는 어느 매장 특전인지 알려줄 수 있어?”

Can you tell me which store benefit this special photocard came from?
