NoCapWiki editorial explanation

1. What does it mean?

거파 shortens 거래 파기. In resale conversations it describes a deal being called off after buyer and seller have been arranging it. 'The deal fell through' fits an account of what happened; 'I'm cancelling the purchase' fits a message from the person backing out.

Also written or said as 거래 파기, deal cancellation, geopa, geopha

2. The nuance

The word does not explain why the deal ended or settle whether either person was at fault. '거파돼서 다시 올려요' means the seller is relisting after a cancellation, not that the item was necessarily returned as defective. Compare 잠수, disappearing without responding: a cancellation can be communicated clearly rather than by going silent. If money has already changed hands, the label alone does not determine refund rights or platform rules. Translate the actual situation instead of treating a seller's slang notice as a binding policy.

3. Examples

“거파돼서 책을 다시 판매 목록에 올렸어요.”

The deal fell through, so I've listed the book for sale again.

“못 사게 됐으면 잠수 타지 말고 거파한다고 알려줘.”

If you can't buy it, let them know you're cancelling instead of disappearing.
